ShortMessage: My husband and I have been very happily married for 11 years and we adore each other. The only thing missing is having children. It sounds so cliche but we have so much love to give and we know what a wonderful family we could have together.
We have been doing IVF for over 5 years but it was only late last year that we finally got some answers as to why we can't fall pregnant. I have a rare autoimmune condition which means while we produce very healthy and strong embryos my body just won't accept them. It is so disheartening that it has taken so long to find this out with all the heartbreak along the way. But despite all of this we have remained strong and not willing to give up on our dream. So here we are, we would love any advice and information people can give us on surrogacy because this seems to be the only hope we have and we are feeling a bit lost.

ShortMessage: We are a loving married couple from Brisbane who unfortunately have been unable to become pregnant despite multiple operations & several years of IVF treatment.
We are blessed in that we have a very supportive large extended family and 2 wonderful dogs. However, we are still hopeful of making our family complete with a child of our own. After years of struggle we believe that gestational surrogacy is probably our last chance at having a child of our own.
We would appreciate discussing gestational surrogacy further with anyone with more information.
Warm regards,

When I hadn't met Mr Right by my mid 30s and did not want to trick some guy on a "one night stand" into impregnating me unknowingly, I have had a 16 year journey to become a mum. I have tried everything including looking into overseas adoption (which would have been my preferred route once I realised that I was unsuccessful at becoming pregnant myself) rather than adding to the number of people on this planet. However, as that lengthy door seemed to be closed to me, I attempted first to use my own eggs using sperm from a friend (several male friends offered - 1 at a time- and then changed their minds and later, (after 3 potential ova donors - one at a time- started down the track and then changed their minds) ova from another friend both of whom were/are willing to be known to child/ren of mine - (VERY important to me as it is for a child of mine to be able to know a surrogate) and then IVF. All these efforts were not successful and involved counselling and extensive quarantining, in terms of length of time, of sperm and then 2 different attempts at ova harvesting - one at a time-, one female friend only producing 2 non-viable ova and then a second's fertilised ova needing to be quarantined before I could attempt to become pregnant with it for close to another year. I therefore do not have a genetically related child to me anyhow although the sibling I seek for my son will be genetically related to him.
Thus I am an older single woman (living in Sydney NSW) who has been fortunate to have a USA Gestational Surrogate (GS) (ie we didn't use her eggs - she received my transferred 2 embryos created as above via IVF ) carry my son who is now 2 1/2. Because of the expense in the US, although it was a non-commercial surrogacy there, and the fact that my former GS does not want to do any more surrogacies for anyone, and the changes in NSW to do with Parentage, I am equally wanting another child both for myself and for my son to have a sibling and am hoping that there is an incredible Aussie woman who can help me.
My being 'single' is probably because being so focussed on motherhood just meant that it scared most men away but I hope to meet a "daddy" for my child/ren after I complete my family.
The other thing is that I have only 4 frozen embryos remaining and they are in Los Angeles at the clinic where my son was 'conceived' so IF I am successful in finding a surrogate I will need to pay for her (and for support -her partner too) to have a return trip to LA to be implanted and at least enough time to be rested either side of implantation and obviously I would pay for accommodation. (Therefore this is a legitimate expense in an altruistic surrogacy.)
Another thing is that I am wanting information on a gestational surrogate (therefore NOT using her own eggs) who is willing to have 2 embryos implanted (only 1 out of the last 4 thawed turned into my son - with 2 not surviving the thawing and, of the 2 transferred, only 1 implanted.
Finally as a single woman who can only take maternity/adoption leave and otherwise needs to work to support my family, I am needing the potential surrogate to be willing to undergo a CVS and if a SERIOUS disability is detected, then a willingness to terminate the pregnancy. (I am not talking about terminating a pregnancy for disabilities like sensory loss like blindness, or deafness nor am I talking about a child missing a limb and certainly not gender).
I regret this request to find information on a potential gestational surrogate is so devoid of heart and spirit because I already know that children are just the most precious beings in the world and that any surrogate (or parent relinquishing a child for adoption) gives the most precious gift of all to people like me.
I have never loved anyone in the world like I love my little boy and I am so grateful to my previous US GS who is willing to speak with you when about to match. Although my family on both sides have long lives - my mum turned 92 in April- I was her last child - so although I hope to match that life expectancy - I want my son to have a sense of family when I pass on.
As the laws have changed in all states/territories of Australia in the last couple of years, since my son’s birth, I have also been trying to find someone willing to be a surrogate for me given my unusual circumstances. Someone contacted me after I posted my dilemma in late April and after speaking at length I paid for her and her own child to come to Sydney for the required counselling and an initial meeting with a lawyer, and also, as her life decisions changed, I adapted to them. However, she suddenly emailed me on Tuesday withdrawing her offer to be a surrogate despite our having talked 2 days earlier and me asking if there was anything that would change her mind and her saying “no”. I am devastated!
Of course she has the right to change her mind and it is better to for both of us to find out earlier rather than later especially if a surrogate pregnancy had already commenced! But this is heartbreaking not only because this is more time and money delaying my journey but because this has happened several times before (not just this time) when I try to find a surrogate but also before I eventually found the surrogate with my son last time – and also with trying to find egg and sperm donors. It is the emotional heartbreak that is the most devastating although the monetary cost is substantial now too. So it is not hard to be a person who is older on this journey – that is where the years have gone and time is STILL ticking by.
So I do not know anymore if there is any potential surrogate in Australia who would consider working with someone in my situation where all the appropriate out of pocket expenses, including a year’s life/sickness/disability and income protection (if applicable) insurance, were paid along with the return trip to the USA and accommodation for up-to 4 weeks (as the LA clinic seems to require) However, I am going to contact them again to see if this time can be reduced and most of the preparatory medication and scans undertaken here to avoid a potential surrogate needing to be away from work/family for more than about a week.
But to anyone thinking about being a surrogate can I just say – please, please understand that for anyone who has fertility issues and is determined to try just about anything to become a parent – remember – they have already had countless disappointments and been terribly disheartened and after the initial conversations which are important to see if you match well including talking through the specifics, once you decide to proceed – don’t change your mind – unless there is a massive change in your life like serious illness in yourself or your family or there is obvious misrepresentation on the part of the intended parent/s. It is just too cruel to do this to them – so think all of the potential scenarios through carefully before you make a commitment.
Anyhow thanks for your time everyone and good luck with all your journeys.
But if you can help please email: bella-776@hotmail.com * Please note - this is a DIFFERENT email address than has appeared to contact me before.

ShortMessage: Hello, we are a happily married couple, who have been together for 15 years.
I have Primary Ovarian Failure and therefore do not have any eggs. My beautiful sister has generously donated her eggs, and we have a number of frozen embryos. We have been trying IVF for a long time now and have sadly, thus far not fallen pregnant with the frozen embryos. It appears I am also unable to carry.
We are both 31 years old and have so much love to give. We have a happy and stable life with fantastic, supporting families and a wonderful dog.
My sister would be our surrogate, however she has not yet had a child of her own, so she is not an option.
We would love information and to talk to anyone who would be open to discussing information on being our surrogate.

ShortMessage: Hi my husband and I are looking for information on a traditional surrogate. I am 33 years old and unable to have children of my own, I have had surgery to try and help this however it did not work. I am not a candidate for IVF as I only have a 1% or less chance of carrying a baby, as I have been able to fall pregnant but have miscarried each time. My husband is 39 and has 2 sons to a previous marriage they are 16 and 11. As time is getting by us rather fast we feel this is our own option left, we have
been down the adoption path also however this option did not work for us either. My husband and I can offer a loving, caring, stable and safe environment for a child, and this is my one wish. I always hoped to have a big family and that is not possible, I would be most appreciative and gratefull to anyone who may be able to help me fullfill my dreams. I currently run a family day care out of my home as this was the only way I could do what really makes me happy, looking after children. Any other information feel free to ask me, willing to talk anytime. Thanking you in advance Megan and Chris

Aussie Traditional Surrogate needed for fairy tale ending
Email: aussie-royals@hotmail.com
ShortMessage: Once upon a time, on an island called, "The Apple Isle", in "The Lucky Country", lived a King and Queen. Queen Paula came all the way from "The Land of the Free", to marry her handsome King, David.
King David and Queen Paula have lived blissfully in a wonderful and loving marriage for over twelve years. It was a perfect match from the beginning, like two soul mates meeting back up with each other after a long journey apart.
During their marriage, they have started a 'fur family'; the first was Lexi, a Ragdoll cat, now ten years old. Next, came Loki, another Ragdoll cat and companion for Lexi, who is now nine years old. Finally, a long awaited puppy dog! Basil is now two and a half years old and is part German Shepherd and part Border Collie.
The King and Queen have tried over the years to have their own children, but have not succeeded. Sadly, Queen Paula had to have a radical hysterectomy due to cervical cancer. The royal doctor left one ovary, in hopes that the royal couple will be able to harvest some fertile eggs. But, there are no royal fertile eggs left in Queen Paula. The royal couple will have to find a traditional surrogate in the village, or in another kingdom of "The Lucky Country".
The King is the last of his line, having no brothers or paternal uncles. Sadly, without an heir to the throne, there will be no one to carry on the royal family surname.
The King and Queen have their own business that they run from the castle. Therefore, they are home 24/7, or close to it. There will be no nannies for the future prince or princess!
If you feel that you are able to help the King and Queen by being a traditional surrogate, please contact them by using the royal private message system. They would love to talk to you and answer any questions you may have.

ShortMessage: Hi,
Hi, I live in Adelaide, SA and would like information and advice about surrogacy.
My wife suffered severe complications with the birth of our last child with a ruptured uterus. In order to save her life she needed an emergency Hysterectomy. we are grieving at this moment as our beautiful daughter who was born with a brain tumour passed away recently after 19 marvellous months with us.
My wife has been to a fertility clinic and with her ovaries still in place, she still has a viable supply of eggs.
We have more love to share, and while we would never be looking to replace our baby (she can never be replaced) we know that she would have loved to have been a big sister, and hence we are just trying to find out what ever information and advice we can.

ShortMessage: Hello,
Well where does one start on asking for advice we are a couple who have been researching all our options for several years now and still uncertain about which way to go?
Heres how our story goes - I am a mum but met my soul mate a way back and prior to me meeting him i had to undergo a hysterectomy to prolong my life.
And since then with my partner and soulmate by myside we together have endured 5 more surgeries Im now trouble free thankfully living and loving everyday and counting each blessing.
My most predominant issue is that I have NO reproductive organs and both my partner and self would love to have a child.
I was fortunate enough though to have experienced pregnancy and have two beautiful teenage boys, now to complete my union with my partner we wish to find somewhere to get help.
We have looked at the most logical options eg Adoption, Fostering, and now Surrogacy but for us the only way which is of course the latter of the three is one we know not much about.
Perhaps there is an Angel who could talk to me/us about what we can do and the things to lookout for.
So we are guessing we would need a egg donor plus a surrogate or both please inform us if there is
another way.
Advice and a chat would be great
Please Help us we are LOST and Lonely.
Look forward to speaking with you.

ShortMessage: Looking for 'that'special person
Hi
My husband and I recently underwent the process of surrogacy with my sister. I was born without a uterus and have known since I was 16 that I was unable to have a child. I have been married previously and my sister offered to be a surrogate for me and my now ex-husband. We were very blessed to have been successful and have a beautiful boy (now 10 years old).
Since remarrying my 'amazing' sister offered again to be a surrogate fro my husband and I. We went through the whole formal process of gaining permission and approval. We had four embryo's but were unsuccessful in my sister falling pregnant.
Unfortunately, due to health reasons my sister is no longer able to be a surrogate for us anymore. My husband and I would love to find information on a surrogate for us. We realise it is a huge ask of anyone, but we would love to experience the joy of having a child that we have biologically made together.
Sincerely

We are Interested in Surrogacy- So How Do
We Do This?
In traditional surrogacy (also known as the Straight method) the surrogate is pregnant with her own biological child, but this child was conceived with the intention of relinquishing the child to be raised by others such as the biological father and possibly his spouse or partner. The child may be conceived via sexual intercourse (NI), home artificial insemination using fresh or frozen sperm or impregnated via IUI (intrauterine insemination), or ICI (intra cervical insemination) which is performed at a Fertility Clinic.
Sperm from the male partner of the 'commissioning couple' may be used, or alternatively, sperm from a sperm donor can be used. Donor sperm will, for example, be used if the 'commissioning couple' are both female or where the child is commissioned by a single woman.
To find a sperm donor privately visit FSDW (Free Sperm
Donations Worldwide)
In gestational surrogacy (aka the Host method) the surrogate becomes pregnant via embryo transfer with a child of which she is not the biological mother. She may have made an arrangement to relinquish it to the biological mother or father to raise, or to a parent who is unrelated to the child (e. g. because the child was conceived using egg donation, sperm donation or is the result of a donated embryo). The surrogate mother may be called the gestational carrier. Find a Fertility Clinic
Is there Money Involved in Surrogacy?
Altruistic surrogacy is a situation where the surrogate receives
no financial reward for her pregnancy or the relinquishment of the child (although usually all expenses related to the pregnancy and birth are paid by the intended parents such as medical expenses, maternity clothing, and other related expenses).
Commercial surrogacy is a form of surrogacy in which a gestational carrier is paid to carry a child to maturity in her womb and is usually resorted to by higher income infertile couples who can afford the cost involved or people who save and borrow in order to complete their dream of being parents. This procedure is legal in several countries including in India where due to high international demand and ready availability of poor surrogates it is reaching industry proportions. Commercial surrogacy is sometimes an emotionally charged and contentious ethical issue.
To find out if commercial surrogacy is legal in your country please see the links to the right of this page, or click here and

Queensland Passes New Surrogacy Laws - June 2010

Under new laws in effect next year, altruistic surrogacy will no longer be a criminal offence, however, surrogacy for payment or financial benefit will still remain illegal.
Significantly, altruistic surrogacy will not be limited to opposite-sex couples, giving the green light to gay couples who wish to start a family. More from this story

Legalities of Surrogacy
The legal aspects surrounding surrogacy are very complex and mostly unsettled. There is a default legal assumption in
most countries that the woman giving birth to a child is that child's legal mother. In some jurisdictions the possibility of surrogacy has been allowed
and the intended parents may be recognized as the legal parents from birth.
Many states now issue
pre-birth orders through the courts placing the name(s) of
the intended parent(s) on the birth certificate from the start.
In others the possibility of surrogacy is either not recognized (all contracts specifying different legal parents are void), or is prohibited.
We therefore suggest that
you seek legal advice regarding the laws in your country / state
The following information is provided to offer an overview
of the current available information however I do not claim to have any legal training or be a specialist in surrogacy law. As such I have also provided links to surrogacy law specialists around the world so that you can get professional advice relating to your circumstances.
I hope you find them useful!
Please do let me know how

The Commonwealth Government of Australia cannot universally legislate for reproductive technology practice. Therefore each state and territory is responsible for designing and implementing separate legislation. This has resulted in laws and practices that differ from state to state.

Surrogacy New Zealand
The most important provision in the ADOPTION ACT 1955 is section 25, which states that, unless the court consents to it,
it is illegal for any person to
give or receive, or to agree to give or receive, any payment
or reward in consideration of
the adoption or proposed adoption of a child or in consideration of arranging an adoption or proposed adoption.
A major issue for the parties
to a surrogacy arrangement involving payment of money
will therefore be whether the arrangement breaches section 25. This is a question that
will be decided by a court on
the basis of the particular circumstances of each case. However, the courts have been willing to find that a surrogacy arrangement does not breach this section.
Also note that although
Section 26 of the Act states that it is illegal to publish an advertisement indicating:
- that the parent or guardian of a child desires to adopt out the child, or
- that any person desires to adopt a child, or
- that any person or organisation is willing to arrange for a child to be adopted
that, again, the courts have been willing to hold that this section will not apply to a surrogacy arrangement.

Surrogacy within the UK
The law in the United Kingdom stipulates that surrogacy is illegal if money changes hands. However the reverse side of the coin is that if woman A volunteers to carry a child for woman B without taking money from her this is fine. That said there are no agencies in the United Kingdom who would broker or arrange the meeting of two such women- and this is where we hope to fill the gap.
There are also support groups who can offer help and advice on the subject but cannot and do not offer to make introductions between those able to have children and those wanting to have children.

Surrogacy Worldwide
India is emerging as a leader
in international surrogacy and
a destination in surrogacy-related fertility tourism.
Indian surrogates have
been increasingly popular
with fertile couples in industrialized nations because
of the relatively low cost.
Indian clinics are at the same time becoming more
competitive, not just in the pricing, but in the hiring
and retention of Indian
females as surrogates.
Clinics charge patients for a complete package, including fertilization, the surrogate's fee, and delivery of the baby at a hospital. Including the costs of flight tickets, medical procedures and hotels, it comes to
roughly a third of the price compared with going through the procedure in the UK.
Surrogacy in India is relatively low cost and the legal environment is favorable. In 2008, the Supreme Court of India in the Manji's case has
held that commercial surrogacy
is permitted in India. That has again increased the
international confidence in
going in for surrogacy in India.
